We are so small.
We are so small. Getting older is sometimes rather fun. I don't necessarily enjoy my body going to shit but if my parents had told me how getting older really sucks I might have spent more time keeping in shape than I did. Oh well, that is water under the bridge. Please don't get me started on parents. That is a rabbit hole I don't want to go down right now. Being a of the 1960's and seeing computers go from the size of small buildings to some little bitty piece of shit on your wrist ( can any one say Hello Dick Tracey). we can now search the information super highway and find out all kinds of fascinating information. For instance, did you know that the distance light travels in one year is approximately 6 trillion miles or 9 trillion kilometers (that is a 6 with zeros behind it). And that the closest star to us Proxima Centauri is 4.3 light years away? If that doesn't make you feel small I don't know what will. Maybe this, The constellation Ursa Major, better known as the Big Dipper. Consists of 7 or 8 stars (if you count the binary stars Mizar & Alcor) that is visible in the northern hemisphere. That constellation is 4 Light years away from us. And, And the distance from the top left star to the farthest top right star is 25.7 light years So, what is the point? We humans are tiny little nothings compared to the scale of the universe we exist in. Isn't it time to put away our petty differences and exist peacefully in this universe we live in? Have a good day, fellow puny humans. |
