Great post. I keep seeing the word Incel but haven't looked it up. Thanks for the info. The way I see it used doesn't seem quite like the original intention. I'm in the same boat as BiggLala myself.

*Involuntary* is inextricably linked to *free will* (in this case, absence thereof). To say that you do not have free will is to declare that you are constrained by necessity or fate.

Given our connectivity and access to information, such constraints seem even less justifiable in terms of celibacy. (our sex partners are out there and it's never been easier to find them) For many, especially Alt-Right males who allege *incel* status to justify their vitriol and violence, it is more a matter of rationalizing and/or laying down a smoke-screen to disguise complacency or narcissism.

That said, at the end of the day, Americans in general are having significantly less sex. This decline is most pronounced among young adults, but reflected across all age groups. We read about the usual (very real) suspects: health, risk, anger, anxiety, depression and distraction.

To my mind, if we focus on mitigating these issues, sexy-time will rise resurgent and we can remand *celibacy* to the mythology of Catholic clergy.
