This post is TOTAL BS!!!! Polio and small pox vaccines, among others, have eradicated diseases.

A hopefully balanced view about vaccinations. The Coivid-19 vaccine probably will not eradicate the virus (SARS-CoV-2) worldwide. In fact in a survey by the journal Nature (https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00396-2) , about 90% of scientists thought that the virus would become endemic (ongoing infections). However, if we could reach herd immunity in the US, transmission rates should drop, serious illness should be lower and deaths should be reduced - 1000's of lives would be saved daily. Conceivably, the virus could be eliminated in some regions - but with re-introduction from outside and travel that doesn't seem likely to hold even if it could happen. Why won't Covid be eradicated worldwide? Well, it's a global epidemic, so elimination at home does not eliminate it abroad. Furthermore, the virus is mutating and circulating elsewhere and many parts of the world have low vaccination rates - so eradication there seems unlikely. Plus, as noted, it can still be transmitted by those who are vaccinated. Bottom line - vaccination should prevent serious illness and hospitalization in many and would save lives, but will probably not lead to global eradication. Vaccination is a good thing [for all but the rare person with a contraindication, mainly history of severe immune reaction to one of the components] and will prevent serious illness and death, .

Seize the day...
