And... M-Day has come!

And... M-Day has come! Notification came down from corporate yesterday, right before I left work, stating all employees will now be required to wear a mask during working hours. This should be interesting. Between plexi-glass barriers, COVID-19 masks, and the terrible musac that is always playing a little too loudly over head, it will now be completely impossible to hear anyone while they speak ever. It wasn't until customers started wearing the masks that I realized just how much I relied on lip reading while having a conversation. With the social distancing rules, you can't even lean in now to get a better listen to what people are saying. I've decided to make sign-language my new second language. There is one bonus to the requirement of our new fashion accessory.... I can now tell people off, under my breath, whenever I feel like it, without them being any the wiser. "Fuck you, you fucking douche bag" will likely become my new favorite sentence ender for conversations with people I can't stand. I can't wait! |

Today was the first time I went out for provisions wearing my shiny new N95 mask (those things are fucking stifling!) and I have to say, being able to say nasty things to the morons I encountered, under my breath and with impunity, almost made up for having to wear the mask.

Speaking what you feel is liberating. Go for it. I've been doing it since forever... without a mask. 😮

I find that people never quite know how to explain what they are looking for.... Can you tell me what isle you have work gloves in? You know, the kind you can just throw away? They're.... rubber... Turns out they were looking for the yellow gloves you wash your dishes in. My biggest peeve is when the customer tells me "I can never find anything in this store!" So, you walk them to the product, and they tell you "I was already here, that's not the brand I'm looking for." REALLY????? Um, yah. We don't CARRY that Walmart brand dumbass. This is not WALMART!

I thought I was alone having a hard time understanding people wearing masks. My 1st thought was how much I need to see lips to understand people.

I sometimes have a hard time picking out voices in a crowd, or when there is a lot of extra noise going on. It's probably a result of my years and years of loud music and concerts.... Hearing aids are very inconspicuous now, you almost cant even tell when someone is wearing them.

Hopefully you won't be uttering that wonderful phrase when the musac decides to take a pause. But the mask should make it difficult or impossible for someone several feet away to understand what you've said.  Tell you what, that mask was totally itchy on my face. Good God...

I went to a VA Appointment and the doctor had a mask and a very heavy accent. I had a mask and I have hearing loss. We were about 50 feet away. She asked me something and I thought she said Penis so I started to drop my pants and she became very alarmed as what she said apparently had nothing to do with my penis. I understood every 4th word. I was quite embarrassed. I cannot imagine working in those conditions and I agree a lot of people are fucking douche bags. I hope you manage well. Stay safe and healthy, an oh yeah,employed lol!
